Red and White Applique’ Quilt

1910 Red and White Quilt.  Outstanding detail and needlework with this Applique’ quilt.  Nine consecutive squares worked into a symmetrical pattern.  Interesting small circles added without thought to unity to the pattern of the quilt.  The pattern is an abstract version of tulips with a center rose of sharon flower extending with attached stems reaching outward to leaves or hearts - left to one’s imagination as to the maker’s intention.  Signed ‘I W’ in one corner.  Found in Kitchener, Ontario.  Each applique’ piece is expertly stitched with the finest precision of stitching detail. Size:  72” x 78”
