Outstanding Hooked Rug with Historical Provenance - Circa 1860

Anthony Flower Estate Hooked Rug of New Brunswick, Canada.  This exceptional hooked rug came from the original homestead of one of Canada's renown artist, Anthony Flower (1792-1875).  The estate was located on the banks of the Washademoak Lake at MacDonald's Corner, New Brunswick. Anthony Flower was an Artist as well as a farmer.  He built his small framed house in 1820 where he raised his family.  Today the home is a Museum where it was moved to Cambridge Narrows.  Anthony Flower painted throughout his life.  The image here on this rug would have been drawn by Anthony Flower for his wife to hook a rug using burlap material.   Circa 1860.  Size:  54" x 36" on a stretcher for hanging purposes.  Rare and exceptional piece of Canadian Textile Art with historical significance.
